Online Counselling

Online counselling is a professional mental health service provided via digital platforms such as video calls, phone calls, or text-based communication. It offers the same support, guidance, and therapeutic approaches as in-person counselling but allows clients to connect with a qualified counsellor from the comfort of their chosen location.

Equinnect Online Counselling is delivered in the comfort of your home via video calls using the Zoom video conferencing platform.

Video conferencing in counselling enables you to access mental health support and counselling from the comfort of your home or other preferred locations.

Research has demonstrated that online counselling is as therapeutically effective as face-to-face therapy for various mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress management (Cuijpers et al., 2019).

All you need is a good internet connection, a platform with a camera (so we can see each other), privacy and comfort.

Online counselling helps overcome barriers such as access and availability, including distance, mobility, weather, and pandemic issues (Stubbings et al., 2013).

Key features of online counselling include:

Convenience and Accessibility.

Clients can access support from anywhere, making it particularly helpful for those in remote areas or with mobility challenges.

Flexibility.

Sessions can be scheduled conveniently, fitting into busy lifestyles.

Privacy.

Counselling is conducted in a secure, confidential environment, often enhanced with encrypted technology to ensure client confidentiality.

Comfort.

Engaging from a familiar space can reduce barriers to seeking support, such as anxiety about visiting a counselling office.

What to expect.

Equinnect and Tanya will guide you to ensure you have confidentiality during your sessions.

We use a secure platform (Zoom) and implement practices to protect your confidentiality and data security.

We have a procedure we follow if we lose connection during a session that we will share with you as part of our intake session.

Recording sessions is not permitted for your privacy and security, similar to face-to-face counselling.

Online counselling is suitable for individuals and addresses a range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, relationship issues, grief, and personal growth.
